If you are on Twitter, you will be familiar with the concept of folllowers mentioning your username as a way of broadcasting to their twitter followers that you are being implicated for something you tweet. Usually, this means one of the followings:
1. someone wants to have a chat with you; or
2. someone has visited your blog and decided to share your article with the online social network e via the share this button. ; or (you will see these at the top or bottom of the blog.)
3. someone retweets or RT your blog to his followers. In this case, the word RT will appear before your username such as RT @hiannie or
4. a third or even a fourth person mentions the same tweet, which means your twitter name will reappear on your timeline.
For a couple of months, I have been pleasantly surprised by some of my twitter followers who have actually Published my tweets on their daily newspapers! Cool eh?! So before I explain how they do it, allow me to share with you who these followers are.
The way to create your own daily newspaper is by signing in with http://paper.li/ with either your facebook or twitter account. Here is a headline image from the daily newspapers Tuck Soon has created.
Remember those school days when you were asked by your teacher to cut out newspaper articles for an English language project? Or imagine creating your own library of newspaper articles on the web. It means you do not have to worry about dust and space. Plus, you do not need to use a pair of scissors, a glue stick or buy lots of ring binders. All you have to do is to LEARN how to crop, cut, paste, embed, link, unlink, publish and manage your own daily newspaper.
If you have been browsing for many months and years, you may already bookmarked hundreds of sites that you think you will read (and normally don’t) later. So paper.li does that for you. I suppose, that helps you collect all the bookmarked sites in one place. No more looking at a clutter of drop down menus from your firefox browser, only to forget which bookmark is most useful and which is your favourite.
These are just thoughts running through my head at the moment. I have not considered starting my own newspaper daily yet, but looking at the growing number of people using this service, it may just develop into something of a personal treasure for those who choose to create a one.
By the way, do you know that I speak 4 languages? Mandarin, English, Malay and Bahasa Indonesia. Now what would it be like to have my own daily newspaper in as many languages as I read. Wouldn’t that be cool. Anyway, if you are interested to know if you can learn any of these languages, do not hesitate to contact me here.
