Speak For Love | Communicate For Confidence | Inspire For Growth

Take a look at the picture below. What do you see? Two screwdrivers one a phillips head and the other is called a slot. Draw straight lines over them in the picture. You’ll see how we got the following new discovery, at least for us it is, because it is the first time we have heard it, from my daughter today.

The Plus And Minus Screwdrivers

Interestingly, whenever we need to use a screwdriver to fix things around the house like opening the battery compartment of toy machines or tightening loose screws, onequestion always pops up in the head: “Do I need a phillips or slotted screwdriver to fix the screw?” After we’ve searched and found it in the toolbox, we will still try it out on the screw to confirm that we’ve taken the right tool. There’s never perfect fit until we physically place the screwdriver on the screw. When they both fit, we inevitably go: “ah! Got it.”

Question of the day:

Is there a left handed screwdriver?
Only in Birmingham. The Birmingham screwdriver.
(No is the right answer.)

What Other Subject And Matter Are Renamed To Plus And Minus?

1. Cathode and Anode:

A ‘Cathode’ is a Negatively charged Electrode (or Element) that attracts the Positive (+) ions (Cations) in a Circuit or Chemical reaction. The ‘Anode’ is the Positively charged Electrode (or Element) that attracts the Negative (-) ions (Anions) in a Circuit or Chemical reaction.

2. Addition and Subtraction:

The arithmetic symbol for addition is the ‘+’ or plus sign. The symbol for substraction is the ‘-‘ sign or negative sign.

Note that renaming these terms to ‘+’ and ‘-‘ do not change the original concept that explains the subject.

I have always been fascinated at children’s natural ability to notice details and yet express the details in simplest way. We’ve just made it simpler to choose between a phillips or slotted screwdriver, rename them if you please, to plus or minus screwdrivers respectively.
