Power Speech:Mother Tongue Without School

If something so natural as speaking takes 2 years for a child to perfect, then speaking a foreign language may take an even longer time for an adult. Unless you understand the power of speech your mother tongue has given you.

The truth is the only language that you can ever become fluent and completely proficient is still your mother tongue. My preferred language is English and yet when I put my daughter to bed or discipline her, I will end up using my mother tongue. At first, I thought how wierd; my subconscious will take over when I want to connect with my daughter emotionally and mentally.

Yet when I walk her to school or converse with her about food, games, homework or music, I will automatically speak in a non-native language that we both understand.

Listen to your subconscious mind, play it in your head as if your mother or father is now talking to you, and you will feel a surge of emotional, mental and spiritual connection with the language that lives in you from the day you were born. This is your native language which we call mother tongue. Your mother tongue gives you power to work.

What is this power, you might ask and how does it help you?

As a child we often ask our parents the same question everyday, “Mum, what are you cooking?”, “Can I have a snack now? ” “Would you like to eat now?” You may not realise it, you speak more to your parents than they to you. You absorb more information and details of your environment than your parents could dare to offer. “Go to bed. it is late. Turn the computer off. Stop watching television.”

You were hungry for more experience with the environment, yet parents have the knack of omitting your desires. So much so, now you might have forgotten how to learn like a child.

The experience with the environment gives you power because you creat wealth of knowledge by experience. By the same token, power does not come without work. Work to the child is play and having experience with the environment. In his work, he will not be paid in dollars and cents. As long as he feels growth, he knows he is working. When he sings a song repetitiously, he is exercising his potentials, repeating the exercises make him grow.

The power was not given to him as all he possesses are potentials, unlimited yet mobile, untapped yet hidden. This power is what drives the child to pursue his knowledge, unrelenting and unashamed.

Let’s talk about us, the adults. There are times when you find difficulty working on a certain project, you may say things like this, “I have never been a good writer at school.” “I wish I had paid more attention at school.” “I should have studied this course.” It is not uncommon for an adult to wish he had experience this or that as a child. That is because, with the experience, he will have the power to do something with the hidden potential and keep moving.

This power was first fashioned when you learn to speak your native tongue not a preferred, second, or third language. The mother tongue is never taught, it is acquired.

Watch this video very carefully, the kids do not talk; the parent give information to them, not like a teacher. They watch and listen, and somehow, able to figure out what to do. This is the power of childhoodspeech that I am talking about.

The only way we are able to speak it so well without school, is because the subconscious has received the power that engines the development of our grammar, vocabulary and language skills in other new languages we want to learn.

Thank you so much, this was very interesting. I was actually born in Madrid (I’m not telling you what year though!) but moved around various parts of europe and finally settled in England when I was 6. I dont remember an awful lot of the few years I was in spain, but the smell of spanish food always seems to ring a bell in me or something. It’s weird how I dont remember anything except the smells, isn’t it! I even found a whole website dedicated to spanish recipes, which gave me great delight and thought I ought to share. Anyway, thank you again. I’ll get my husband to add your website to my rss app…
